BAFTAs 2023 live stream: preview
The 76th annual BAFTA Film Awards will take place on Sunday 19 February at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre. Each year the shindig honors the best films from all nationalities – the only criteria being that they must have been shown in British cinemas in the previous year.
Leading is the German-language anti-war film No news from the Western Front with 14 nominations, equal to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragons record as the most nominated foreign language film in the history of the event. The Banshees of Inisherin And Everything everywhere at once each have 10 names.
Nominated British short films include The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse, middle watch, Your mountain awaits, The Ballad of Olive Morris, Boszigaga, bus girl, Pushing one up And An Irish farewell.
There is also the Rising Star award, that is the only award voted on by the public. Nominee Daryl McCormack is joined by four former Rising Stars: Carey Mulligan (2010), Eddie Redmayne (2012), Barry Keoghan (2019) and Michael Ward (2020).
Your host for the evening is Richard E Grant, who promises to strike a more celebratory tone than the more irreverent award organizers. He is joined by This morning‘s Alison Hammond who will be hosting a new BAFTA Studio backstage space to give us a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest nights in film.
For the first time, the final four category winners will be revealed live on the show. As with all live TV, anything can happen…
