The United States Disney Plus (opens in new tab) price hikes are only hours away, so you’ll need to act like Cinderella and “hurry, hurry, hurry” if you want to watch another 12 months ad-free for $79.99 (opens in new tab).
As of December 8, the cost of an annual, ad-free Disney Plus subscription will increase from $79.99 to $109.99 – a sharp 38% increase. A monthly recurring ad-free contract jumps from $7.99 per month to $10.99.
You could just swallow these hefty increases with a spoonful of sugar…or you could save yourself $40 by subscribing for 12 months before the clock strikes midnight…
Don’t mind watching with ads? Disney is introducing a new ad-supported tier that costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. The new tier will be available in the US from December 8 and will expand internationally in 2023.
The Disney Plus bundle is another good option for savvy streamers. Right now you can grab Disney+ (ad-free), Hulu (ad-supported), and ESPN Plus for $13.99 per month. Hurry though, because that plan will cost $14.99 per month starting December 8.
The price increases are not exactly a big surprise. Last month, The House of Mouse revealed that losses at its streaming businesses — Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus — had reached $1.5 billion.
Still, you can’t fault Disney’s dedication to content. Over the next 12 months there will be an avalanche of exclusives from the highly anticipated Abbey Road documentary If these walls could sing (December 16, 2022) to The Mandalorian season 3 (March 1, 2023) and multiple Marvel spin-offs.
Want to keep watching in ad-free bliss? Be sure to renew your $79.99 annual subscription before midnight on December 7.
