The highly anticipated Spotify HiFi subscription for higher quality music streaming is still a mystery as we enter the twilight weeks of 2022, despite being teased in 2017 and officially announced in early 2021. push for users to switch to Premium – aided by the usual impressive festive deal.
If you upgrade your Spotify from a free plan to Premium between now and December 31, 2022, you can get three months free; a nice deal to start your 2023. And previous Spotify Premium users who canceled their subscription before October 28 can also snag a deal if they want to return to the service, with three months of premium priced at £9.99 / $9.99 / AU$11.99. It’s essentially buying a one-month free deal and getting two months.
Spotify has highlighted a plethora of Premium benefits, including ad-free listening and the ability to download songs for offline listening. The Spotify library also contains over 80 million songs, so chances are you won’t run out of things to listen to anytime soon. And we’d hate not to mention Spotify’s year-end retrospective, Spotify Wrapped – which calculates your listening time, the year’s most-listened-to songs and artists.
While all of these Premium features are useful and fun, we’re still waiting for the higher quality playback that supposedly comes with Spotify HiFi. Tidal remains our choice for music streaming services if audio quality is paramount to you, but Spotify has an excellent community-based feature set that other streaming services don’t quite get the hang of. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that HiFi makes its long-awaited appearance in the new year – until then, find out Spotify’s celebratory treat of a deal here. (opens in new tab)
