When we reviewed the Audio Technica AT-LPW50BTRW in the spring of this year, we awarded the impressive turntable four stars, complimenting its combination of excellent build quality with sympathetic sound and seamless usability. If you’re in the market for a new player and haven’t yet made up your mind, Audio Technica’s generous discount certainly makes it worth your consideration.
It’s also a nice item. The AT-LPW50BTRW looks smart and confident, the rosewood finish gives a great sense of sophistication alongside excellent overall build quality. It’s not quite a plug-in-and-play affair, but once you’re up and running you’ll find it’s a piece of cake no matter how many times you dig out a new plate for the AT-LPW50BTRW to to try.
The four-star turntable also has Bluetooth streaming and a built-in phono preamp, although you can bypass the internal phono stage to use a separate external stage or the one in a stereo amp. Either way, it’s nice to have the option.
In terms of sound, the AT-LPW50BTRW offers an easy, really enjoyable listening experience, and while it might face competition from the excellent Rega Planar 1 Plus at this price point, the Technica’s combination of useful features, pleasing design and enjoyable audio all come together to make one smart choice of.
There’s not much the AT-LPW50BTRW can’t do, giving you so much of what you’d hope to see in a turntable at this price point. Now that price has come down by a decent margin, it’s undoubtedly a spinner to consider.
