Don’t delay anymore
Set a hundred years before the events of the books and their film adaptations, Hogwarts Legacy opens the doors of the prestigious school of magic and presents an all-original story. Harry and his friends are nowhere to be seen – they’re not even a twinkle in their great-grandparents’ eyes right now – so that leaves room for you, the new witch or wizard in town, to make a name for yourself. make in these hallowed halls. Secure, we won’t play quidditchbut the official gameplay trailer revealed at a State Of Play showcase earlier this year gives us plenty to get excited about in this expansive open-world RPG that promises branching questsforbidden curses and an intriguing mystery to solve.
The most recent slowdowns of the last generation are unfortunately nothing new Hogwarts Legacy has already seen a deflating delay which has moved its target from late 2022 to early 2023. While current-gen console and PC players get 72 hours of early access with their purchase of the game’s Deluxe Edition, the same does not apply to previous-generation users. Whether you’ve purchased the Standard or Deluxe version, you’ll be able to access it on April 4. This is according to the Frequently Asked Questions about Hogwarts Legacy (opens in new tab).
If you planned on playing on your Switch, you’ll have to wait an additional five months for your acceptance letter to arrive in July 2023. But hey, what are a few more months if you’ve been waiting 25 years?
The delay is likely to disappoint some Harry Potter fans, as by pushing back the release date for only part of the community, there’s an increased risk of last-gen players having the experience ruined for them by their current-gen peers. Plus, since you can always cancel your pre-order, dissatisfied fans may express their displeasure by using their wallets – especially if there’s no longer any significant reason to have spent the extra money on the Deluxe version.
