Apart from being one of England’s best players at this World Cup, England’s Bukayo Saka engages in TikTok spelling bees to keep team morale high in camp.
During his time in Qatar, the youngster has put his teammates’ linguistic skills to the test by asking them to spell complicated terms.
In a recent video of that, the 21-year-old first asks James Maddison to spell aesthetics, to which the midfielder responds with ‘AESTETHI-C’, to which Saka gleefully shouts ‘wrong’.
Saka then turns to Grealish for spelling rhythm to which the Manchester City player responds, ‘RHYMT-H’.
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford also accepted the challenge.
Saka is in sparkling form so far in this World Cup. The winger has scored three goals in the tournament so far and played a key role in England reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup. England will play against France on Saturday.
The teams have not met in a major tournament since they drew in the group stage of Euro 2012.
“Speed is often one of the keys – if you are fast, the opponents have less time to organize themselves. But you need more than speed to score goals,” said Didier Deschamps ahead of Saturday’s game at Al Bayt Stadium.
“You can stop a lot of things, but it’s very hard to stop someone very quickly, especially in transitions.” added the French manager.
Deschamps went on to say: “England are very strong in transitions – more than half of their goals come from quick counter-attacks. But they have other qualities too: they have technical ability, the ability to score goals and skill in set pieces.”
