Focal shakes up its loudspeaker range. Replacing the entry-level Chora range is the brand new Theva range – packing a wealth of features and technologies into what is now Focal’s most affordable loudspeaker line-up.
Theva has six models in its range, all with new colorways and a slimmer cabinet design to fit neatly into your home. For hi-fi and AV fans alike, there are three floorstanding speakers (one with dedicated upward-firing Dolby Atmos drivers), a standard pair, a center channel and surround speakers.
Like the souped-up Vestia speaker range that launched at CES 2023, the Theva range features Focal’s updated Slate Fiber drivers, which contain recycled carbon fiber and produce “a dynamic, rich and balanced sound,” Focal claims. Featured in all Theva speakers is a new TNF aluminum/magnesium tweeter, which enhances Focal’s signature inverted dome design with a new waveguide and uses “Poron” (a type of memory foam material) between the dome and bracket to reduce high-frequency distortion. to decrease.
The floorstanding speakers and optional stands for the standard and center speakers have tilted pedestals for “optimum time alignment and exceptional soundstage,” says Focal. Whether you’re going for a simple stereo setup or the full home theater experience, the Focal Theva range aims to cover all angles of the listener.
The Nº1 bookshelf speaker has a 16.5cm mid/bass driver, while the Center has two mid/bass drivers flanking the 25mm tweeter. The difference between the three floorstanders? The new three-way Nº2 uses 13cm drivers (one for mids, two for bass), the first to do so in Focal’s home speaker range. The Nº3 is the flagship model with three 16.5cm drivers, while the Nº3-D additionally includes a full-range 13cm upward firing driver to deliver Dolby Atmos soundtracks.
And finally, Theva Surround is a wall-mounted surround speaker that completes the home theater experience. Each surround features the 25mm TNF tweeter and 16.5cm mid/bass driver, easy wall mounting and, like any other Focal Theva speaker, magnetic grilles.
The prices for Focal’s Theva loudspeaker range are:
