Sonos is making a big start to 2023. The announcement of the new Era seriescurrently consisting of the Era 100 and Era 300 models, the American audio brand sees itself pushing itself into a new era. The Era 100 will replace the popular Sonos One, and of course you’d expect that model to receive hefty discounts.
While we generally don’t see Sonos products on sale at a huge discount (except during Black Friday sales), we’ve seen the soon-to-be-discontinued Sonos One at a whopping £40 discount from both John Lewis and Curries .
While Amazon, Richer Sounds and Sevenoaks have landed a few deals on the speaker, we’ve found John Lewis to offer one of the lowest prices yet for the Sonos One smart speaker, bringing the original £199 price down to just £159 (opens in new tab)a very respectable saving of £40. Be warned, though, that this only applies to the white finish, with the black edition set you back the full price of £199 from the same retailer.
Don’t want the Sonos One in white, but still secretly want to save money? Currys also offers something similar discount up to €159 (opens in new tab)only this time the deal is available for both black and white finishes.
We awarded the brilliant Sonos One speaker our full five-star rating thanks to its solid, well-balanced sound, huge catalog of streaming features, and full voice control capability for Alexa and Google Assistant. There is no direct price comparison rival at this level, with the Apple HomePod 2 the strongest contender (but £100 more expensive at full price), but the Sonos One’s now-reduced price tag might be enough to win you over its Apple rival.
The Sonos One remains one of the best smart speakers we’ve tested in recent years, a fantastic all-rounder that also integrates easily with other Sonos products.
Of course, the only thing that might make you pause before throwing the One straight into your virtual basket (beyond the fact that you already own it) is competition from Apple or, ironically, Sonos itself. With the new Era 100 (with its fresh design, better connectivity including Bluetooth and new stereo sound) coming to market now, you might want to wait for the One’s replacement if you’re eager to see the latest Sonos has to offer.
