“With this deadly double, Ishan has made a strong claim to opening for India in the ODI World Cup at home in 2023. Will this happen? I do not know. Does it have to happen? Hell yeah, of course you have to.”
“The man just scored the fastest 200 in ODI history. But if he can show consistency, keep fit and be present in the coming months, he should be a good opener for India at the World Cup,” said former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee on his official YouTube channel.
Lee, who is clearly impressed with Ishan’s hitting ability, revealed that he wants Ishan to open for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Though, he didn’t mention it but he might have hinted that Kishan could be a replacement for KL Rahul who has been struggling with his form lately.

“What we saw from Ishan Kishan a few days ago was really amazing. Bangladesh had no answer. The fastest double hundred in ODI history, that’s right. 210 runs off just 132 balls… 24 fours and 10 huge sixes. A savage knock with shots all around the dial,” said Brett Lee on his YouTube channel.
Ishan Kishan hit the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket history as India beat Bangladesh by 227 runs. Kishan got to work and shot 210 off 131 balls. Kishan, who came in for an injured Rohit Sharma, hit 24 fours and 10 maximums.
Supporting and advising Ishan, the former cricketer said: “Back Ishan to make it in the World Cup squad with a view to the future and it’s clear the young lad would be in a daze after that knock as he would must be. However, a word of warning. Too much praise had led to cobwebs in the head. So my advice to Ishan Kishan would be… forget the milestone, forget the double hundred ASAP. There are bigger milestones to reach, higher peaks to scale. Ishan Kishan has to forget the euphoria of his double hundred. Just focus on the process, keep fit and keep hitting big runs.”
